Radiochemical Analysis of Pu , U and Sr Isotopes in Soil Samples with
نویسنده
چکیده
Recently, several studies have reported on combined procedures for the determination of radionuclides in soils or sediment samples with extraction chromatographic materials such as the TRU, Sr and TEVA Spec resins. These methods are somewhat difficult to apply for very low levels of fallout radionuclides without using large amounts of extraction chromatographic resin. Therefore, it is necessary to develop improved determination methods for actinides with lower detection limits, faster turnaround time and reduced analysis costs. It is also desirable that the method does not generate any appreciable amount of mixed waste or hazardous wastes. In order to meet these challenges, a procedure has been developed to provide sequential determination of plutonium, uranium and radiostrontium in soil samples. By sequentially analyzing the entire sample, it is possible to avoid repeating the extra and unnecessary digestion/dissolution processes, which are quite time consuming and costly. Minimum detectable activity (MDA) is also achieved by analyzing the whole sample, rather than dividing it into small subsamples for each individual analysis. In order to reduce the analysis cost and turnaround time in conventional methods, a sequential determination for Pu, Radiochemical Analysis of Pu, U and Sr Isotopes in Soil Samples with Anion Exchange, UTEVA, Strontium Resin†

Environmental Radionuclide Analyses around Nuclear Installations in Northern Switzerland
Beside on-line dose rate measurements, various radiochemical methods are applied at the Paul Scherrer Institute for immission measurements around nuclear facilities in Northern Switzerland. The radioanalytical procedures are carried out on soil and grass samples mainly for determination of the activity concentrations of pure anthropogenic αand β-emitters such as fissiogenic Sr, Sr and isotopes ...
متن کاملIsotopic analysis of uranium and plutonium using ICP-MS and estimation of burn-up of spent uranium in contaminated environmental samples{
Environmental monitoring of actinides and evaluation of the contamination source (nuclear weapons tests, nuclear power plant and nuclear reprocessing plant accidents, etc.) requires precise and accurate isotopic analysis of actinides, especially uranium and plutonium. Double-focusing sector-field inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-SFMS) using a low-flow microconcentric nebulizer ...

Numerous post-ophiolite intrusions exposed into the late Cretaceous–Paleocene Sabzevar ophiolite belt, northeast Iran. The intrusions consist of calc-alkaline intermediate to felsic rocks with metaluminous to peraluminous in nature and adakitic affinities. Based on U-Th-Pb dating on separated zircons by SHRIMP Ⅱ, the emplacement age of these rocks into the ophiolite zone is constrained to ~45 M...
متن کاملTransfer Factors of Radionuclides from Soil to Rice and Wheat Collected in Japan
Obtaining local soil-to-crop transfer factor (TF) is important because climates, soil types and vegetations influence on the factor. In this study, analyses of stable isotopes and natural radioisotopes in rice and wheat grains and the associated soils collected throughout Japan were carried out in order to obtain TF under equilibrium conditions. The studied samples had been collected for the me...
